And more praise for Tagona Press author Diane Sims, ‘Living Beyond The Shadows’ … and our January 9 Toronto Arts & Letters Club event
New York City-based writer, book reviewer, Manitoulin Island summer resident, and longtime Sudbury Star contributor Bonnie Kogos recently published her thoughts concerning Diane Sims and her ‘Living Beyond The Shadow’ memoir:
“… A lovely new inspiring new book, Living Beyond The Shadow, is written by Diane Sims. This incredible lady was diagnosed with MS at 17, then later diagnosed with ovarian and breast cancer. With other physical challenges, these setbacks have not stopped Diane from living an amazing busy and productive life. She’s a prolific writer with six books published and she has worked for CBC Radio North.
I had the privilege of getting to know her as a former Manitoulin Expositor managing editor. Diane also wrote speeches for various federal and provincial cabinet ministers throughout the years.
As her physical condition worsened, Diane moved from walking to being in a wheelchair. Yet this fine lady continues to do what she loves, shopping with her friends, writing various articles for various publications, and is delighted, as we are, with her newest book…”
High praise! … and I strongly suspect that we might see Bonnie at the May 2025 ‘Fresh Eyes – Sault Ste Marie‘ community creative works project — and who better to provide fresh Sault perspectives than an accomplished publishing world professional who blends New York savvy with her boundless affection for Ontario?
Bonnie’s ‘Living Beyond The Shadow’ comments provide a nice segue to our January 9 Toronto Arts & Letters Club event (commencing at 530 pm) where we are celebrating Diane’s memoir and her appointment to the Order of Canada. Come one, come all!!
