This story captures Berry’s emotional journey and emphasizes the importance of support and understanding from loved ones in overcoming personal challenges.

The Mouse with the Curly Hair
In this enchanting story illustrated by Alexis Stallings, themes of uniqueness, acceptance, and the power of community come to life. Mama and Papa Mouse settle in the Big Red Barn, where they become parents to three baby mice: Gee, Tee, and Curli, who has beautiful curly hair. Curli feels different and apprehensive about joining the other children due to her unique appearance. With the support of her family and the wise intervention of Mrs. Dusty, Curli gradually embraces her distinctive curls. The story culminates in a heartwarming moment of acceptance and inclusion, as all the children and the ladies of the Big Red Barn celebrate Curli’s uniqueness by curling their hair. This narrative promotes self-acceptance and the value of community support.
